The Freeman College of Management at Bucknell University invites applicants for an Assistant Professor of Management & Organizations beginning in Fall 2024. The position is to be filled by an outstanding candidate with a commitment to scholarship and promise of excellence in undergraduate teaching to a diverse student body. The approximately 700 undergraduate students in the AACSB-accredited Freeman College of Management may choose among seven highly interdisciplinary majors that combine courses in the various fields of management with offerings in the arts, humanities, natural and social sciences, and engineering. Our innovative curriculum and world-class teacher-scholars earned the Freeman College a top 20 ranking in the 2023 Poets & Quants’ annual survey of undergraduate business programs. We believe that an undergraduate education that combines technical skills and deep intellectual exploration is the best preparation for thoughtful and capable leaders. New faculty members must be capable of contributing to this mission through teaching, advising, scholarship, and service.
This position involves teaching introductory and advanced courses in organizational behavior (i.e., MORS 202–People in Organizations, and possibly MGMT 101-Introduction to Organization & Management, after completing a year or more of service), responsible management (i.e., MORS 302 – Responsible Management, MORS 400 – Management Consulting; First Year Foundation Seminar – FOUN 098 - a topic of choice), as well as other undergraduate courses in the MORS Department according to the candidate’s own interests and areas of competence. All courses should incorporate values-driven management thinking so that students will develop competence in thought directed toward organizational and societal challenges. The teaching load at Bucknell University is five credits per academic year. The candidate will also be responsible for advising students.
Both the Freeman College’s strategic plan and the University’s strategic plan provide impetus for this position. The Freeman College’s strategic plan states that the College’s curriculum will embed the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Because addressing the SDGs requires new management and organizational approaches that incorporate values-driven management, we are seeking a teacher-scholar to teach courses that will be open to all Bucknell students In particular, we seek to hire someone who educates and studies topics directly linked to an array of United Nations social justice goals, and we hope to especially attract candidates who focus on one or more specific critical issues at the intersection of organizational behavior and social justice (e.g., #10 Reduced Inequalities, #6 Gender Equality, #1 No poverty, #2 Zero Hunger, and #3 Good Health & Well-Being). Our successful candidate will be interested in integrating students into their own scholarly agenda. • Candidates must either possess a doctorate or show evidence that they will obtain their degree no later than August 1, 2024 in a field appropriate for teaching organizational behavior and responsible management, and other courses in the MORS Department of the Freeman College of Management.

• Candidates must demonstrate promise for scholarship commensurate with an assistant professor appointment, and the promise of ongoing productivity.
