Bucknell University is seeking an Associate Director of Athletic Communications and Ideation. This position will assist the Director of Athletic Communications in improving and increasing awareness of the Bucknell Athletics brand through communications, creative writing, and student-athlete promotion. 

All Athletics staff members are expected to contribute to Bucknell’s commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Job Duties:
1. Serve as the primary media/communications contact for football and other assigned sports. This primary responsibility for football includes:
a. Maintain accurate statistics, records, and files.
b. Respond to requests for information from media personnel and the public; distribute promotional materials, including flyers, brochures, and press kits; disseminate information via the appropriate media.
c. Manage press facilities at home games, including credentialing and sideline photo access, press conferences, and special features.
d. Travel to all away games as primary media contact and serve as home team athletics communication contact.
e. Create written and visual media content (website, social media, recruiting communications) leading up to, during, and at the conclusion of home and away games.
f. Collaborate with Bucknell Football’s video coordinator and the External team to expand and execute behind-the-scenes sport-specific recruiting content.
2. Serve as the department’s lead writer for stories relating to student-athlete enrichment that help promote and highlight Bison student-athlete/team leadership activities and community service.
3. Collaborate with the Director of the Bison Club and University Advancement to edit and distribute head coach and departmental e-correspondence (EMMA emails).
4. Help elevate the department’s Name, Image, and Likeness platform through the promotion and utilization of INFLCR and the implementation of other evolving industry trends.
5. Under the direction of the Manager of Operations & Fan Engagement and Graphic Designer & Brand Manager, post timely updates and graphics for assigned sports on social media.
Ghostwrite and proof Bison Club communications, including, but not limited to, membership guides, brochures, and web content.
6. Assist in the creation of departmental publications, including digital and print media guides and game programs.
7. Pitch story ideas and write press releases and feature stories promoting the department, its student-athletes, coaches, and alumni.
8. Help maintain and evolve the official Bucknell Athletics website.
9. Help draft written content for the Senior Awards Banquet program and the department’s day of giving (One Herd, One Day).
10. Assist in the coordination of Bison Club events, end-of-year sports banquets, and the Senior Awards Banquet.
11. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree
2. Four years of communications experience

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Master's degree
2. Two years experience in a college athletics department
3. Direct work with NCAA Division I football program
4. Experience running social media accounts

Physical Demands:
1. Work involves considerable exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
2. Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.

This is a full-time, 12-month, exempt, benefits eligible position.

The Community
