The Mathematics Department at Bucknell University invites applications
for two tenure-track faculty positions in Statistics, to begin August 1,
2020. We expect to hire at the Assistant Professor level, but
outstanding candidates will be considered at the Associate Professor or
Professor level. Qualifications for the positions include a Ph.D. in
Statistics, Biostatistics, or closely related field, a strong commitment
to teaching, and a high potential for research. We seek teacher-scholars
who will contribute to the department’s focus on inclusiveness and the
liberal arts mission. The successful candidates will join a team of four
other statisticians teaching a variety of statistics courses while
maintaining an active research program.

copies accepted), a research statement including a section addressing
opportunities for undergraduate research, and a teaching statement.

experiences and leadership in diversity, equity, and inclusion, or their

The Community

Located in central Pennsylvania, Lewisburg features a variety of restaurants, beautiful Victorian homes, the restored art deco Campus Theatre (owned by the University), charming shops and boutiques, and the Barnes and Noble at Bucknell University Bookstore. About 33,000 residents live in the region.

The city of Williamsport is about a 30-minute drive from campus, and Penn State University’s main campus is about an hour away, as is Harrisburg, Pennsylvania’s state capital. Bucknell is about three hours from New York City, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington, D.C.

The cost of living here is low compared to that of major U.S. cities and suburbs.
