The Associate Director will be responsible for maximizing major gifts to the institution through personal solicitations and stewardship, as well as through the supervision and coaching of several talented gift officers in coordination with identified fundraising priorities and metrics.

Bucknell University recently celebrated the successful conclusion of its largest comprehensive campaign in the history of the University--$500 million--by raising $513 million from nearly 45,000 donors. The overwhelming success of the WE DO campaign will enable the University to continue to attract the best students, faculty and staff, and to forge a path to an even stronger, more distinctive University--one that is positioned for even greater support in the future.

So why should you consider this opportunity? At Bucknell you get it all – a liberal arts college combined with the opportunities of a first-class University that is ranked by the Princeton Review as one of the most beautiful campuses in America. College of Arts & Sciences? Check. College of Engineering? It’s here. College of Management? Got it. An NCAA Division I Athletics program with 27 varsity teams and a scholar athlete graduation rate that consistently ranks as one of the best in the nation? You bet!

If your perfect job includes working at a premier institution, living in an area with a high quality of life, and associating with creative and energetic colleagues, then Bucknell is the place for you. If you crave the outdoors, imagine having access to over 15,000 acres of state parks within just a short drive from campus. You can visit several local parks, including one especially for children; take advantage of a 9-mile rail trail for walking, running, and cycling; public swimming pools; and enjoy fishing, kayaking, and boating on the Susquehanna River. Do you have an appreciation for the arts? The area has plenty to offer in this regard as well, including arts festivals, a “Music in the Park” program, a beautifully restored and active 1941 Art Deco single-screen Campus Theatre, unique local merchants, a wide variety of restaurants, and more. Additionally, the University offers an extensive program of performing and visual arts, with regular visits by world-renowned orchestras, theater groups, and popular musicians.

Lewisburg is a safe, clean, and peaceful town with an excellent public school system (consistently ranked in the top 5% in the nation), and top-tier medical facilities. We are just over an hour drive from the Harrisburg International Airport as well as easy access to major metropolitan areas such as New York City, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, and Baltimore (all of which are within a three-hour drive and offer additional cultural opportunities).

Now let’s talk about the job! The Associate Director will report directly to the Executive Director, Leadership Gifts and Constituent Fundraising, and work closely with DAR and University departments to coordinate, strategize, and secure major gifts in support of institutional fundraising priorities. The Associate Director also has an opportunity to interact with University administrators, college deans, athletics administrators, coaches, faculty, and staff to aid in overall fundraising programs. Specifically, this includes engaging new and soliciting existing donors capable of making gifts of $100,000 or more to the University.
