Bucknell University is seeking applications for an experienced professional to serve as the new Associate Director, Leadership Gifts, a position that is primarily responsible for maximizing major gifts to the institution through personal solicitations and stewardship. In addition, the Associate Director will supervise and coach, several talented gift officers in coordination with identified fundraising priorities through the division of Development and Alumni Relations (DAR).

Now let’s talk about the job! The Associate Director will report directly to the Executive Director, Leadership Gifts and Constituent Fundraising, and work closely with DAR and University departments to coordinate, strategize, and secure major gifts in support if institutional fundraising priorities. The Associate Director also has an opportunity to interact with college deans, athletic administrators and coaches, faculty and staff to aid in overall fundraising programs. Specifically, this includes engaging new and soliciting existing donors capable of giving $100,000 or more to the University. To be qualified for this exciting opportunity, you must have an earned a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of ten years of fundraising or closely related business experience. The ability to recruit, train, and motivate volunteers, as well as design and implement successful special events is a must. You must also be able to speak and write effectively; be creative; practice diplomacy, tact, discretion, and confidentiality; and be able to manage multiple projects at once. Experience with word processing, Excel spreadsheets, constituent databases, e-mail, and the internet are required. Due to the nature of the position, a willingness to travel and a valid U.S. driver’s license is also required. Preferred qualifications include ten years of leadership and major gift experience with a successful track record of closing six- and seven-figure gifts in a higher education setting, working knowledge in the field of gift planning, experience working with donor prospects in the ares of finance and management, and supervisory experience in leading fundraising activities.
